I have seen Foo Fighters before. But never like this. They did 23 songs. And not short three-minute versions. No, they did extended 10-minute+ versions of some of their most classic songs — the ones they’ve been playing for years and that you think they’d just want to rush through. But each song was an adventure.
The set list was:
Learn to Fly
Cold Day in the Sun
Let It Die
This is a Call
In the Flesh? (Pink Floyd cover)
All My Life Encore:
Long Road to Ruin (Dave Grohl solo acoustic)
Best of You (Dave Grohl solo acoustic)
Times Like These (Dave Grohl solo acoustic into full band)
Dear Rosemary (with Bob Mould)
Breakdown (Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers cover) (with Bob Mould)
Our seats weren’t that close up, but it was still great. And, it turns out that Dave’s acoustic set at the end was on an elevated platform right in front of us!
White Limo and Arlandria:
Long Road to Ruin (acoustic):
Dear Rosemary and Breakdown (with Bob Mould) (Great video from another fan):
And, a few pictures:
P.S. I got to see them do an acoustic set a few days later at the annual Bridge School benefit, so it was a double Foo Fighters week!
It’s nothing big really, just a open mic type thing at a bar, but I’m still pretty excited. :D We’ve been working so hard. I think we’ll be recording a few demos in December so I’ll be able to post those after we record them. (Oh, and we still don’t have an official band name yet because we’re lame like that and can’t think of a good name. I suppose we’ll have to think of something temporarily since we’re starting to play shows lol).
